If you’ve stopped by Riverbrook any time in the last several months, you may have noticed the construction crew hard at work. Out behind Riverbrook and the Haven, the Cottage is in the midst of receiving some much-needed upgrades! At the helm is architect Pamela Sandler, a longtime resident of the Berkshires whose portfolio includes such commercial clients as Blantyre, Kripalu, and Seven Salon & Spa.

Working closely with Riverbrook to assess the organization’s needs, Sandler has designed a layout that will allow the four residents of the Cottage to have privacy as well as ample communal space. The plan adds a living room as well as a handicapped accessible kitchen and bath. A studio apartment is being created to house live-in staff, giving residents of the Cottage easy access to Riverbrook’s renowned 24-hour care.

As a female-led organization serving women with developmental disabilities, Riverbrook is delighted to be able to hire a talented and well-established woman architect to lend her skills to this renovation. Learn more about the renovations in progress at Riverbrook.
